If there were any questions about the Grambling State University football
team going into the 2005 season, it was the inexperience at the linebacker position.
In 2006 that will not be the case, as Grambling returns multiple players who saw significant playing time in a unit the finished 2nd in the SWAC in total defense last season. Dimitri Carr is a force to be reckoned with, Carr’s 99 tackles in 05 led the Tiger defense. David Hicks and John Carter are potential starters. Although the emergence of Keefe Hall, B.J Sams and transfer Eric Foreman (University of Texas), Hicks and Carter will be pushed for playing time. Foreman will be counted on to be an impact player for Grambling this season. Foreman is as athletic as they come; he played quarterback for the scout team while at Texas. He is 6-4, 230 lbs and runs the 40 in 4.6 seconds. His addition will give Grambling’s defense a lot of options in their Cover 2 schemes. Overall this unit has a nice blend of speed and depth to emerge as a one of the best in the conference.
